My first Amon Amarth album, I tripped across it at a regular A&B sound music store, and I though "hmm, that doesn't look normal", and so I wrote down the name of the band, went home, looked it up on napster (when it was still the only music-searcher) and got a few songs.. bleed for ancient gods (track one of this album), Victorious march (Once sent from the golden hall, of course, I didn't know that), and A Dragon's flight across the waves (golden hall again, and again, I didn't know that).. I though "WOW" in all three songs, and got this album..

Hmm. I own Crusher, and this one, and I must say I like crusher more, and if I had the golden hall one, I'd like that one most. But it's still good! I just found this album rather..ummm. bland. The first song doesn't sound like the others at all, and the others pretty much sound similar. That added to the fact that the album seems short, and the last song isn't very amon-amarth like. To me, of all the albums, this one is the least obscure-metal. (death, black, doom, ect), it's the most "normal" of the albums in terms of kinds of metal, and I have a taste for obscure metal. However, if metal is your thing, and you like it if it's more normal, this album is probably for you.

Overall, I enjoy this album very much, and I'm not sorry I paid for it, however, I DO wish I spent my money on the golden hall instead, or perhaps, other strong albums from bands I like.

For me, this is Amon Amarth's worst album. It sounds a little too repetitive. If you've never heard anything by them or don't have any albums, you're better off getting Versus the World!
