DARKSIDE Melancholia Of A Dying World METAL HAMMER CZ / 95 Metal Mirror Roughness, brutality and aggression enriched with melody. These are the characteristics of this austrian outfit, who really surprised me with their quality output. I cannot imagine something being labeled the „ultimate death metal style“, but I think that this is the right mixture of noise making, to relaxe and relate with death. I cannot figure out, where these guys get their ideas from, but for sure they have found a rich spring somewhere. They offer, what most bands of this style simply forget to offer. While listening to their songs you never feel some kind of bore coming up. Sporadic brutal parts are mixed up with melancholic tuned themes. Their work earns my attention and symphathy even more, because I wasn't continuously under tension, while listening to the songs, but I could always tune into the next song. To tell the truth, the band uses some samples to distract, but this totally doesn't destroy the beauty of the whole work. The sound is uttermost hard and the non-human voice of their singer could easily be called the motor of the machine DARKSIDE. A good buisness card of this band is also the good guitar sound, which supplies high parameters to this album together with the mix. I am very happy, to have been introduced to this album. It has a high originality, it's not just a copy of more famous collegues. It seems like you can always still find something there, where others didn't find anything.
