This Austrian band was completely unknown to me, but with their debut they left behind a professional
impression. DARKSIDE was started in 1991 and has brought out two demos in 92 and 93, that was recieved
positively by the underground press. DARKSIDE stands for melodic death/doom metal. Now don't think:
another one in a dozen, this is something else than all those others. During eleven songs this band
keeps you interested with a lot of variation and unexpected turns. The tape (I don't know if this one
will come out on CD) opens with „Deadly“, a song against the upcoming right-extremism, it is a song with
quite an extreme intro. The production is a bit on the weak side here and there, but the songs are
powerful enough to surpress this downside. The song „Emesis Of The Soul“ makes you think of MY DYING
BRIDE a bit, but still the songs have an own recognizable sound, which keeps the sombre atmosphere of
the songs throughout the entire tape. For fans of this genre I can really advise this debute of DARKSIDE
