DARKSIDE Evolution WHIPLASH / Czech Republic Radek Bubenicek How did it all come out like this...who started the evolution of that being, who calls himself homo sapiens sapiens. Obviously we will never find out the whole truth, but hopefully we can believe all those scientists, archeologists and historics, who say, that the more modern evolution started in Southwestern Asia. That may also be the reason why the third longplaying album Evolution of Austrias DARKSIDE starts with the intro In The Beginning, which unveils oriental melodies to the listener. Those melodylines change over to the very hard but feelingfull The Gloaming, to which the guys from Wr. Neustadt recorded their first videoclip. All further songs swing in the same interesting mixture between aggression and atmosphere with the exception of the very own and interesting instrumental song Pink Frog – Cold Smoke. Darkside deserve real ment words of acclamation for Evolution. Not that their other two albums, Melancholia Of A Dying World and Shadowfields were bad, but it seems to me, that with this album, Wolfgang and co. Have finally found their personalized version, whose edges were made probably already before, but only now have found their final form. If you will listen to this album carefully, you will end up with the same feeling as I – that this is not only the most heaviest but also most sensitive album, that Darkside have recorded until now.
