With their third full-length album the austrian band DARKSIDE added a lot more heaviness to their work 
in comparison to their earlier outputs. The four musicians present themselves as a technical 
sophisticated Death metal band, who understands to use keyboards fairly and in places, where the 
songwriting needs it, or when it comes to create contrastic points to the rude aggression. As far as the 
vocals ( Peter Durst) are concerned, one could draw parallels to Jan-Chris of Gorefest, the whole sound 
of the band is more similar to the latest output of SADIST.  „Evolution“ shows a big variety of 
atmospheres and moods, aggression and melancholy get mixed and served freshly. Leading songs from the 
very good material could be „Souls Of Led Blackness“ with a lot of breaks and „Whores Bleeding Magick“ 
for its forwarding drive.  With „Till Your Bitter End“ you can also find a song, that could be from the 
early days of DARKSIDE and therefor could be an approach for all gothic fans. Only the intro and the 
instrumental-caricature „Pink frog – cold smoke“ doesn't manage to get my attention. Anyway DARKSIDE 
with this album show, that will be surely an enrichment for the MOONSPELL tour.
