The austrian band with a strong connection to Czech Republic proudly presents their third album and 
indeed they have all reasons to do so. An album like Evolution cannot be presented other than proudly. 
Since last years' „waking cemetary“  Shadowfields the band has changed to a wonderfully coloured 
butterfly, whereas before the band reminded me more of a pale larve with falso wings, masked with 
lipstick and eye liner. I wouldn't like to criticize their former efforts to hard, where they had indeed 
some good songs, beautiful melodies and especially the intro for the last album showed the bands rich 
inventory abilities, but Evolution stands to tall above them. I have the feeling that DARKSIDE in the 
past built mosaics of parts that didn't really fit together, whereas today they paint pictures of 
consistent colours, which unite in one piece of art. Evolution as a whole is nothing else but a living 
gallery.
Summed up Evolution in ist style is a very generic, outstanding Cd with enough melodic ideas and a very 
own expression. The last mentioned attribute has to do a lot with the sound, which is iceclear this 
time, so that the guitar parts sometimes have cyber-kynetic touch at times. Therefor it seems no wonder, 
that the atmosphere of some compositions crosses the border of our galaxy. Let yourself take away on 
„post-deathdoom metallic“ fogs and forget about unpleasant things. Although this album is very hard, 
DARKSIDE are still able to be smooth at times.
